UV Systems

Aquasafe UV Systems

We have a wide range of UV systems that purify water by removing various contaminants, viruses, bacteria, and many other harmful minerals. The UV lights which include a UV lamp in clear quartz or Teflon jacket, around which the untreated water passes. These lamps produce UV lights which kill all pathogens, bacteria and other contaminants.

These UV lamps create short-wave radiations that immediately kill all bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms.

Features of UV Systems

For around 100 years, scientists have been working on the effects UV lights have on bacteria and other microorganisms. It was found that UV lights affect the DNA of bacteria and deactivate it. It also affects other pathogens and basically diminishes and then destroys their ability to multiply hence they can’t cause diseases. UV light achieves this feat by forming covalent bonds between adjacent bases in the DNA. These bonds do not let the bacteria reproduce.

We have AST UV units which have the finest 316 stainless steel. They are electropolished and at the same time externally. This is done to get years of corrosion-free service. How the system works is that the water comes in contact with the UV rays which have 30,000 microwatts second/cm2 UV dosage and at the same time 2537 Angstrom units wavelength. Compared to Teflon Tubes, silica quartz jackets provide 100% efficiency because of their crystal clear transparency.

To sum it up, UV lights are:

  • Have very low operating costs
  • They are very safe to use
  • Provide very effective disinfection.

Advantages of a UV System

UV systems have various advantages over other systems. Let’s take a look:

  • UV lamps are much more effective than Chlorine. Chlorine is slowly getting off the market because of the harm it does.
  • Very cheap and economical because of its low operating, maintenance, and capital costs.
  • The treatment is immediate.
  • The process is fully automatic.
  • Installation is effortless. It just requires two different water connections. One for the source and one to give you the user, pure water.
  • Maintenance is effortless as there are no moving parts. Just the lamps need to be changed once a year and the general cleaning.
  • Water tastes the same
  • No change in odour, conductivity, and pH as well
  • A major difference between chlorine cleaning and UV is that no chemicals are added in case of UV.
  • The treatment of water is immediate. At the same time, there are no holding tanks or retention time.
